Owner and Senior Mechanical Engineer

A Message from Thomas

My name is Thomas A. Smith and I am the Owner and Senior Mechanical Engineer at DreamSpace Consulting. I attended California State University Northridge where I achieved both my Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Mechanical Engineering. Some notable projects I worked on during my time at CSUN were the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle project and the Automatic Basketball Rebound System project. I have been working as a full time mechanical engineer for 15 years, with experience across multiple industries but mostly in Aerospace and Defense. I have developed expertise in engineering design process (such as design, analysis, prototyping, and test), utilizing various CAD software (such as Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor, and PTC Creo), implementing design for manufacturability and assembly principles, conducting failure investigations, and performing Finite Element and Computational Fluid Dynamic analysis (using software such as Solidworks Simulation and Flow Simulation, Flowtherm, and Ansys). I got into engineering because I love solving problems and creating new products that make peoples lives safer, easier, or more fun. In my spare time I love to spend time with my wife and kids, play and watch basketball, work on personal design projects, and travel around the world.

A Message from Christopher

My name is Christopher J. Smith and I work with DreamSpace Consulting as a Mechanical Engineer. I attended the Washington State University achieving my Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. While attending this excellent university, I became highly proficient at engineering design analysis, CAD design using Solidworks, Finite Element Analysis using Solidworks Simulation, and Computational Fluid Dynamics using Solidworks Flow Simulation. I have worked primarily in the aerospace and defense industry, working with organizations that develop highly engineered, mission critical components and mechanisms. I became an engineer to solve difficult problems and further the evolution of humanity, such as furthering understanding and exploration of the space industry. I genuinely enjoy creating and learning new technologies, which is a value I keep at the core of all my endeavors. In my spare time I like to stargaze with my telescope, play and watch multiple sports, and develop my bartending skills.

A Message from Matt

My name is Matthew Repp and I am a mechanical engineer with a background in the design and development of aerospace components for both military and commercial sectors. Beginning my career in aerospace gave me a foundation in understanding the design fundamentals surrounding precision, performance, and reliability, which I now apply to a wide range of design applications across industries. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University Long Beach and my Master’s degree in Engineering Management from California State University Northridge. This combination of technical training and strategic management has provided a foundation to guide projects from conceptual design through manufacturing integration, ensuring engineered solutions that are both innovative and practical. At Dreamspace Engineering Consulting, I focus on helping clients transform complex requirements into high-quality, cost-effective designs that meet rigorous engineering standards while supporting their broader business goals.
